CAD Weaving Stool

CAD Weaving is a new material made by gluing together pieces of leather and veneer in a warp and woof manner. This new material forms a block that is simulated using 3D computer software, in order to examine the various cuts and patterns, and is then cut in a CNC machine. Each different top surface is the result of a different cut, showing the material’s potential of creating a variety of intricate, textile-like patterns.

The stools’ shape was inspired by logs of wood, and the woven material on top appears as though it is growing from within these logs.

The stool was a commissioned project for Fendi and was launched in the brand’s Sloane Square store in London.
